Child Labor Laws?

Zach and his boss out mowing the back pasture
Look at this hard working 5 year old
He is serious about his work, note the grass shooting out of the mower, he was really mowing.

Zach has always loved riding on the tractor with Papa while he cuts the grass, this year Papa let Zach get on and drive and mow all by himself. They have a huge field behind their back yard and He let Zach mow out there for about 20 minutes. Zach was in HEAVEN! I could tell how proud he felt and he thought he was so big. It was really fun to see how determined he was and how seriously he took mowing. When he was finished Papa paid him a whole dollar and he was the happiest little boy in Nebraska.

Winter Quarters Wedding

The Beautiful Bride and the Beautiful little Girl
Court looked gorgeous
Brooklyn kept saying Courtney looked like Snow White
The Five older Brothers

Ty's little sister Courtney was married last Friday in Omaha. It was a hot day, but lots of fun and she looked beautiful!

Somewhere in the middle of America....

We are headed off for the midwest. We get to make the 917 mile, 13 hour drive back to Omaha. But as you can see it's "the good life". Jealous?

Mueller Park Canyon

We made the short trek up to Mueller Park canyon to have a weinie roast and to make s'mores. The kids had so much fun. It was surprisingly cooler than at our house. We had a really good time with just our little fam. The kids played in the slow running stream and loved it, although Brooklyn cried after being in the water for about 10 seconds. I highly recommend taking your fmaily up for a little cook out if you live in the area. A very nice, cheap, Saturday night activity.

Cowboy Up!

Tyson and Zach all dressed up in their cowboy duds. Ready for the Days of '47 Rodeo.
And me in my hat, so excited to take Zach to his first rodeo!
Don't we just look so authentic.
And little Zach sick as a dog, ready for bed.

We had front row seats to the rodeo on friday night and we were so excited to go. A little while before it was time to go, Zach said he had a headache and he was shivering. I blamed it on too much sun and we headed out the door. We stopped off for a bite to eat at Crown Burger in Salt Lake, and Zach announced that he had to throw up. So Ty took him into the rest room and he did his business. We ate, and were debating whether or not to take him, when on the car ride to the Arena, he puked again in a cup. Thus, ended Zach's short little rodeo experience. Sad Sad day.

Don't Eat the Bubbles!

This is Brooklyn in the bathtub last night. I walk in and she is eating the bubbles, saying "ice cream mmmm..ice cream." What is it with my kids eating moon sand and bath bubbles?

Don't Eat the Moon Sand!

Up bright and early to open his gifts
My masterpiece, Zach LOVED it. I thought it tasted nasty though.
Zach had a great birthday and he got everything he asked for. He was so excited for his Indiana Jones hat and whip. Which cost me a whole $4.50. He recieved a moon sand kit from Scott and Rachel and I caught him eating the sand today. Way to act 5 Zach, way to act 5.

He is my little buddy. I am so grateful for the sweet, smart, fun kid that he is. I love you Zach. Have an awesome 5th Birthday!!!!!!

Me trying to sunbathe while Zach is swimming in his little pool

Zach: "Mom you think you are so hot and sexy sitting there"
Me: "What? why would you say that?"
Zach: "Because you are."

Hey, I will take what I can get!

Dad was left in Charge

Saturday afternoon we went swimming and I asked Ty to take the kids home and put Brooklyn to nap so I could run a few errands. When I got home, I peeked in her room to check on her. She wasn't in her little toddler bed. Then I looked over at the big bed and she was sound asleep like this. Curled in a little ball laying in a puddle of urine. Freezing.
just for clarification, ty did have a diaper on her when he put her to bed. She is in the habit of taking it off right now, especially if there are no pants over the diaper.

Happy Fourth of July!

To start out our 4th of July day we went to see the centerville parade. it was warm, but fun. Zach and Brooklyn LOVED all the candy that was thrown to them. It was the perfect length too, only about an hour long.

Brooklyn was being difficult, she would NOT look at the camera
Waiting for the parade to begin
Goofy goofy Brookie
She was sooo excited. The float had all of the princesses on it. and Belle even waved to her.
Next we headed over to Alison's house for a sweet swim party. They had a giant waterslide and giant slip n slide and a snow cone machine. How cool is that?

Brookie got cold pretty quickly, it was kind of cloudy
Yay! snow cones!

We ended the night with fireworks and then watched Kung Fu Panda in the backyard on the big screen. The kids had a blast
Matt and Lizzie all ready for the movie
Brookie and Sam
Matt, Zach, and Zach
We had a great fourth of July it was a day packed full of fun, aimed to please the kids. I think we were successful!

Binkey Withdrawal

For those of you who caught my earlier post today, this is something I like to call relapse. well, not exactly, because I didn't give in. Oh I wanted to. So bad. She hasn't given me any fits and she has been off the binkey for 2 1/2 days. But today for her nap, she was oh so sad. She wasn't even throwing her usual screaming fits, it was more like, "I am so sad that my little friend is gone." But don't worry I was strong, I didn't succumb to the her ways. Even though, my mother was saying 'Jennie, just give it back." What? what kind of support is that from a mother?
She didn't take a nap though, which really bites, because I don't know if I really want to trade naps for a binkey.
